“From my phone, I could rule the world”: Critical engagement with maternal vaccine information, vaccine confidence builders and post-Zika outbreak rumours in Brazil

Maternal immunization is key to protecting maternal and newborn health. We interviewed pregnant women in Brazil identify barriers enablers of the country. In-depth interviews focus groups were conducted with 60 from São Paulo Rio de Janeiro at different stages their pregnancies. Participants encouraged discuss views on safety, efficacy importance vaccines, access interactions healthcare professionals, sources information vaccine-related matters. There was generally a positive regard for among women, many whom associated vaccination protection unborn child. The interviewees cited several reasons adherence guidelines, including recommendations targeted communication campaigns, active use card or booklet. no reported vaccines. Some using private services not having been asked about vaccines check-ups, which could adversely affect rates. A rumour that caused microcephaly emerged during Zika outbreak most commonly reason choosing vaccinate interviewees. This study identified important vaccine confidence builders.
